📩 This week, I’m keeping it brief because I’ve got a big, fat, juicy 🌍 Earth Day special edish (edition, for those who don’t speak my lingo lol) coming out on Tuesday and I’m not one to hog your precious attention span, especially during a long weekend (at least in Ontario, Canada it’s a long weekend). As I type this, I’m eating the ears off a Lindt chocolate Easter bunny, I’m wearing clothing made from stretchy materials, and life is good. This is how long weekends should be: comfortable and ugly 👹. FYI, I’m going to mention some cool religious tidbits in this newsletter, but I won’t go into detail. Like I said, it’s a light newsletter today! Like a little amouse-bouche before a chunky Earth Day main course. 🍱 Let’s get into it!
🥳️ Celebrations Galore!
🐇 It’s Easter this weekend, if you celebrate. Fun fact: Rabbits don’t lay eggs. THEY NEVER HAVE AND THEY NEVER WILL. So why do we all have an image of a rabbit birthing eggs seared into our brains when we think of Easter? I’m just going to take a guess here: rabbits and eggs are symbols of spring and rebirth, which makes sense for the time of year that Easter falls. Maybe along the way, someone thought it would be funny to combine the two symbols in a grotesque way, and it stuck? Who knows. 🤷♀️
🐣 It’s Passover this weekend, if you celebrate. Fun fact: during Passover, Jewish people purge the home of chametz, which is considered anything made of wheat, barley, rye, oats or spelt that leavens 🚫🍞. This could possibly be the best holiday for the gluten-free, like me. There’s even gluten free matzo! I’d love to try some; if you know of a brand, send me some recos!
🥚🍫 Ever wonder what makes the centre of a Cadbury Creme Egg yellow? It’s paprika. Yup, that’s what makes the “yolk” super yellow. Also, have you noticed the ugly packaging it comes in nowadays?? It features a peelable-dual-sided-cut-in-half plastic shell that makes the confection look inedible and vaguely clinical, like the egg is in a sterilized container or something. 👎 Hot take, but I think creme eggs are disgusting (vote below if you agree or think I’m insane!)

Enjoy the long weekend and make sure you take some time to be ugly and comfortable, like I’m doing now. 👖 Put on those sweatpants with holes in them, wear those ugly socks from the holidays, and eat some discounted chocolate 🍫. Because you deserve it baby. 😘
