๐ฆท ๐๏ธ Teeth in Our Eyes and Fossilized Poop ๐ฉ
๐ It's your Mostly Good roundup for this week! ๐ฅ and YAY it's SPRING!! ๐
๐ค Well well well, if it isnโt FAKE SPRING (as I write this, it is snowing, and yesterday it was 20 degrees Celsius outside. What is even happening anymore.) Today is officially the first day of spring, so happy (fake) spring I guess? ๐๐
This week weโre exploring strange surgeries, 2L of dinosaur poo, in-season fruit, and an entertaining meme that features not one, but two horrible spelling errors. As a communications professional, the errors made me physically recoil from my laptop and worry for our future generations. Enjoy! ๐
Whatโs Good and New
๐จ๐ฆ ๐ฆท ๐๏ธ Canada is showing off their surgical prowess by implanting a TOOTH inside of an EYEBALL (yes, you read that correctly) to repair vision!! I mean, Iโm psyched that thereโs a new way to improve peopleโs eyesight, but the thought of the procedure is giving me major horror movie vibes. ๐จ Following Australian ๐ฆ๐บ surgeon Dr. Greg Maloneyโs lead, this will be the first time the โtooth-in-eyeโ surgery (they couldnโt give it a more creative name?! BORING) will be conducted in Canada. I have no idea how Maloney discovered this, perhaps it came to him in an ayahuasca-fuelled fever dream?? Or maybe he was visited by the tooth fairy and they told him this was possible??? It sounds completely made-up and creepy, but I am all for restoring vision even if it means ripping out a canine tooth and embedding it into an eyeball. ๐คท๐ฟ
๐จ๐ฆ In more Canadian news (we ROCK donโt we!), our emissions levels have dropped to a 27 year low!! ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฒ The Canadian government has very publicly shared their goals of reducing emissions in an effort to combat climate change, and recently Canada has managed to reduce 6 megatonnes (MEGA!) from the previous year. This equates to removing 1.8 MILLION CARS from Canadian roads for an entire year. โ๐ YAY CANADA, letโs keep going, and maybe we can eventually curb these outrageous forest fires we fall victim to every summer? ๐ ๐ฝ๐ฅ Just an idea.
๐ช ๐ง Apparently parenthood has a new perk: it keeps the brain young! ๐ถ๐ฝ Now, as a parent myself, I am not surprised. With the amount of art, crafting, cartoon watching, and engaging in silly voices I do, I feel like Iโm 12 sometimes. According to scientist Edwina Orchard and her team at Yale University, studying MRI scans of 28,000 middle aged adults revealed that the connectivity in the area of the brain related to interpreting behaviour, caregiving and coordination was much more neuron-rich and complex in comparison to adults of the same age range who did not have children. I guess watching endless hours of Bluey is doing me some good? I mean, I ugly cry at every third episode, but, itโs like a GOOD cry. ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ
Weird Factoids of The Week
๐ฉThe largest piece of fossilized dinosaur poo ever discovered is over 30cm long and over two litres in volume. In case youโre a visual person like me, this wondrous turd is roughly the size of a large soda bottle ๐. You know, those big ones you buy for parties. Yuck. Believed to be a turd from a ๐ฆ Tyrannosaurus rex, the dung (also christened a โcoproliteโ, ooh fancy) is helping scientists understand what T-rexes ate. Cool, but why do we need to know what they ate? ๐คท๐ป๐คท๐ป
๐ฐ Something to make you feel crazy: ๐ฆ Water might not be wet. This is because most scientists define wetness as โa liquidโs ability to maintain contact with a solid surfaceโ, meaning that water itself is not wet, but can make other objects wet. WTH. When I was gathering fun facts for this newsletter, I debated adding this one in here because itโs not really โfunโ. It sent me into a spiral for 20 minutes. Anyways, enjoy this uncomfortable fact!! ๐๐๐
Weird Factoids of The Week

Why do memes always feature the most ATROCIOUS grammatical errors?!
Something Useful
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ฅ๐ฅง Apparently strawberries, rhubarb, apricots, cherries, pineapples, avocados, lemons, and radishes are in season, offering a welcome change from awful starchy winter produce. I donโt know about you, but Iโm tired of root vegetables (except you, my beloved potato, I love you, you are perfect in all forms ๐๐ฅ. Iโm probably going to get a tattoo of a potato on my body at some point.) Anyways, back to the in-season fruit: Itโs time for FRESHNESS and JUICE and HEALTH and VITALITY and SMOOTHIES!! Hit up a farmerโs market, support local, and get healthy yโall.
Thatโs all for now folks! Thank you for reading this brain dump and I hope you do some spring cleaning and cook a healthy meal and floss your teeth this weekend.
Awkward goodbye,
๐ซ Steph
